The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
