In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
