The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
