The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
