The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 or orders piety? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
