The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
