The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
