The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
