The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
