In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
