The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or orders piety? 12 What is your opinion if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
