The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
Almighty Allah's Truth.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
