The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
Almighty God's Truth.
