The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
