The Embryo (Al-Alaq)

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
