The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
