In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
