The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
