The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
