The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
