The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
