The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
