The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
