The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
