The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
