The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
