The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
