The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 or orders piety? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
