The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
