The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
