The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
