In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
