The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
