The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
