The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A servant when he prays? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
Almighty God's Truth.
