The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
