The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
