The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
