In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
