The Embryo (Al-Alaq)

In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
