In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or orders piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
