The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
