The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 So let him call his associates, 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
