Hoarding (Al-Takaathur)

8 verses, revealed in Mecca after Bounty (Al-Kawthar) before Charity (Al-Maa'oon)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

The craving for ever-greater worldly gains and to excel others in that regard keeps you occupied 1 until you come to the graves. 2 Lo! presently ye shall know. 3 Then no! You are going to know. 4 Nay, would that you knew with certainty of knowledge (what your attitude will lead to, you would never have acted the way you do). 5 Surely ye shall behold the Scorch. 6 You would see it with the eye of certainty. 7 Then, on that day, you will surely be questioned regarding the favours. 8

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
