Al-Hummazah

The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Woe to every slanderer and backbiter 1 Who amasses wealth and considers it a provision (against mishap); 2 thinking that his property will make him live forever. 3 Nay, but verily he will be flung to the Consuming One. 4 and what shall teach thee what is the Crusher; 5 (It is) the kindled Fire of Allah, 6 the Fire that shall rise to the hearts (of criminals). 7 Verily, it shall be closed in on them, 8 in towering columns. 9
