Thorns (Al-Masad)

5 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Key (Al-Faatehah) before The Rolling (Al-Takweer)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab (an uncle of the Prophet), and perish he! 1 Of no avail shall be his wealth, nor what he has acquired. 2 Surely, he will be cast into a Flaming Fire 3 His wife shall carry the (crackling) wood - As fuel!- 4 A rope made from palm fibre around her neck! 5

True are the words of God the Almighty.
