Thorns (Al-Masad)

5 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Key (Al-Faatehah) before The Rolling (Al-Takweer)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

May the hands of Abu Lahab perish! May he too perish! 1 His wealth and gains will not exempt him. 2 He will soon enter the flaming fire. 3 His wife shall carry the (crackling) wood - As fuel!- 4 A twisted rope of palm-leaf fibre round her (own) neck! 5

True are the words of God the Almighty.
