Thorns (Al-Masad)

5 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Key (Al-Faatehah) before The Rolling (Al-Takweer)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he. 1 What will his wealth avail him, and all that he has gained? 2 He will be roasted in the fire, 3 and so too will his wife who (threw thorns and firewood in the Prophet's way). 4 A twisted rope of palm-leaf fibre round her (own) neck! 5

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
