A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Suad. 1 This Book has been sent down to you; so do not hesitate to warn (the unbelievers) through it, and remind the faithful. 2 Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow guardians besides Him, how little do you mind. 3 And many a township did We destroy – so Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 and when Our scourge fell upon them, their only cry was, "We were indeed wrongdoers!" 5 We will question those to whom Our Message was sent, as We shall question the Messengers. 6 We will tell them with absolute certainty (what they had done) for We had never been absent from them (during their lifetime). 7 And the weighing on that day (Day of Resurrection) will be the true (weighing). So as for those whose scale (of good deeds) will be heavy, they will be the successful (by entering Paradise). 8 And those whose (deeds) are lighter in the scale shall perish for violating Our signs. 9 And We have certainly established you upon the earth and made for you therein ways of livelihood. Little are you grateful. 10
