A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad. 1 This is a Book revealed to you. Let there be no impediment in your heart about it. (It has been revealed to you) that you may thereby warn [the unbelievers], that it may be a reminder to the believers. 2 (Saying): Follow that which is sent down unto you from your Lord, and follow no protecting friends beside Him. Little do ye recollect! 3 How many a village have We laid in ruin! In the night Our Might fell upon it, or at midday when they were drowsy. 4 When (thus) Our punishment took them, no cry did they utter but this: "Indeed we did wrong." 5 Thus, [on Judgment Day] We shall most certainly call to account all those unto whom a [divine] message was sent, and We shall most certainly call to account the message-bearers [themselves]; 6 with full knowledge, We shall tell them what they did, for We have never been away from them. 7 Truth alone will be of weight that Day. Those whose scales are heavy shall be successful, 8 and he whose scales are light -- they have lost their soul for wronging Our signs. 9 And We have given you (mankind) power in the earth, and appointed for you therein livelihoods. Little give ye thanks! 10
